Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and MPAW Healthy Pet Surgical Suite Project
MPAW is beginning a new collaboration this summer with the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and the Michigan State Animal Response Team (SART). The three groups are partnering to promote companion animal spay/neuter at selected county fairs, and at the Michigan State Fair.
The exhibit, called Healthy Pet Surgical Suite, consists of taped or live pet sterilization surgeries, performed by MVMA members in an enclosed tent and projected via monitors to fairgoers. The animals being neutered or spayed in the tent belong to local animal groups. MPAW has the opportunity to staff the informational table next to the neuter tent. This would be a great place for animal welfare organizations to promote their animal services to fairgoers.
While you can’t adopt animals at this table, you can distribute information, display notebooks of adoptable animals, etc. It is an ideal venue if your group offers any type of subsidized neuter/spay in the community. If you are interested in taking part in any of the fairs below, please contact MPAW:
