Adoption

Are you ready to adopt a new pet? There are several factors to take into account before deciding to adopt. Bringing a pet into your family is a lifetime commitment, and some types of animals can live for up to 20 years! Here are some things to consider before choosing your new family member:

  • How much time do you have to devote to exercise, grooming, and training?
  • What exercise, grooming and training needs does the animal you are interested in have?
  • If you rent, does your landlord allow pets? If so, what kind?
  • Are their limits regarding the number or type of pets that you can own in your community?
  • Is anyone in your household allergic to pets?
  • Is everyone in your household ready to bring an animal into the home?

Once you have considered these factors and decided to commit to a new pet, you will find many locations that offer adoption throughout Wayne County. Both humane societies, animal control’s and rescue groups often have adoptions services. For specific breeds, you may also consider adoption through a purebred rescue.
